calvin klein

the calvin klein label is one that has been around for, well, a while. it’s one of those that doesn’t necessarily make my heart skip a beat when i see it on the collection roster or hear someone utter its name, but one i know will always be very good. it’s one of those that’s always in the industry’s mainstay arsenal and one that i’m always pleasantly surprised by.

this season, it seems that costa wanted to add some sartorial spice to the brand with a (slightly) new  – for this house, anyway – direction. youthful silhouettes dotted the runway, interspersed with klein favorites like white skirt suits and black trousers. and while costa always does justice to the female form with tasteful tailoring and subtle sensuality, new this season was the more obvious focus on a woman’s features. the chest was highlighted with plunging necklines and peeps of cleavage here and there. ironically, however, the collection erred on the side of girlish – not to be confused with immature – with shorter hemlines and flouncier skirting. many of the looks were refreshing, while some came off a bit too relaxed for the klein brand – slouchy appeared ill-fitting and oversized didn’t quite achieve the effect i think costa was going for.

but, like usual, i liked the collection and saw many of the trustworthy pieces i’ve come to rely on from calvin klein.
