scenes from the weekend

14 Jun

ok, so this might be a compilation of scenes from the past couple weekends. and we might be right upon another weekend. but, sometimes, that’s how things go, right?

on a mission to get out and experience new things (or new perspectives on “old” things), i’ve been exploring my city in ways i’ve never experienced it before. and in a city that you’ve lived your whole life, that’s sometimes hard to do. but i’m determined, because austin really has so much edge and creativity to offer throughout its unique nooks and crannies.

first up was exploring the duval/hyde park area. this quaint, quiet part of town is like a lush refuge from the big-city persona austin is so desperately trying to adopt. from its older houses to its small neighborhood haunts, hyde park is a gem of an area.

kept seeing these knitted coverings over various poles throughout the neighborhood. keep austin weird, i guess

next up was the east side – a part of town i’d been dying to see more in depth for ages. and it didn’t disappoint.

hillside farmacy – if you haven’t been here, go. today. like now.

a local caterer i met on a recent trip forwarded me the flyer for 2nd street’s annual soundcheck event. it promised interesting vendors, music and food. and it was free. so, why not?

Just love to visit Austin. I worked on a project there on Congress Ave. and stayed at the Omni – it was so much fun to be able to walk everywhere for great food, to the river, etc. and not ever have to drive! Enjoyed your photos.
