farmers market

a couple weekends ago, i revisited an austin spot i’ve been meaning to take advantage of (for a second round) for some time – the barton creek farmers’ market.

and it. was. great. as my love of food – and especially local, quality food – grows, i’ve had an increasing urge to break out of the big-box grocery store rut and explore more ethical, healthful fare.

and this place did the trick. from regional vegetables to home baked breads to even skillfully crafted soaps and skin products, the farmers’ market was a gold mine of community based products. my favorite had to be the handmade pasta from a shop right here in austin – i got the pesto-spinach linguine and i don’t think i’ll ever buy pasta from a chain grocery store again.

and if you tire of strolling through the outdoor aisles, chit-chatting with the farmers and artisans, you can take a pit stop at the market’s cute resident coffee trailer. perfect for a sunny spring morning.
