the tents at lincoln center

another fashion week has come and gone (for me, at least), and the four days i spent covering the shows for styleite were a whirlwind of beautiful people, beautiful runways and beautiful clothes.

kicking off the unofficially named fashion month, new york sets the stage for a new season of brilliant – and sometimes, not so brilliant – sartorial showcases. from the glamour-infused uptown shows at lincoln center, to the edgy and impossibly cool downtown shows at milk studios, there was certainly no shortage of fashion fête-ing to be had.

covering mainly up-and-coming designers who often fly just under the radar, i spent a good chunk of my time at milk studios – which was perfectly fine by me. the beauty of covering these off-site shows is that you get the chance to forget about who sat in the front row and who didn’t, and really hone in on what this week is really all about (or should really be all about) – the fashion.

the stand-out show and collection for me this week had to be falguni & shane peacock. this adrenaline pumping, heart reacing production, where edgy silhouettes reigned supreme and the impeccable detailing of each piece was certainly not for the faint of heart, was unapologetically in-your-face with its futuristic light show and space-age soundtrack.

this fashion week was certainly one of the better i’ve been to and i already can’t wait to see what the other fashion capitals have in store for us.
