Sooo, it’s been a while since I’ve posted but I have strong faith in the old saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder. With me? Ok, good.

Anyway, I had the privilege of not only attending but covering one of Austin’s premiere events a few weeks ago – Austin Fashion Week. With three successful years now under its belt, its clear that AFW is quickly becoming one of Austin’s most exciting and hotly anticipated events.

And, I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty impressed with this week-long sartorial smorgasbord. Designers from all walks of life – and parts of the world – sweat it out in the capital city (yes, we got to sprint around town in the 105+ degree Texas heat – jealous?) in the name of fashion – and jewelry, hat and accessories design.

Kicking things off with an unexpectedly exhilarating first night at Austin’s Harley Davidson showroom – yes, that Harley Davidson – and moving into daily events at boutiques, salons and galleries around town, AFW wasted no time wowing show-goers with impressive lineups of premiere emerging talent.

Austin is undoubtedly making a name for itself – whether intentional or not – as a cultural and artistic hub, and AFW is surely a testament to this growing reputation. All-in-all, covering AFW2011 was a thrill, and I’m already looking forward to next year! Check out my full recap of AFW on Fashionista and what made the list of top 10 highlights from the week!
