austin adventure: canoeing on town lake

8 Aug

one of the best things about living in a city like austin? all the mini-adventures you can have right in the middle of town. not that i’m an outdoorsy, excursion-loving kinda girl, but every once in a while, it’s nice to step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different.

case in point: canoeing on town lake. in an effort to add newness and excitement to my free time, i took my friend anna up on her offer to paddle around the much beloved lake (disclaimer: ok, so it’s a dammed part of the colorado river, but let’s not focus on that) running through the heart of downtown austin.

and minus the sweltering heat, it was a great time! i highly recommend this to anyone looking to spice up their weekend (and it’s fun to watch the stand-up-paddle-boaters take a nose dive into the water every once in a while. not that i enjoy other people’s pain. ok, so i do – whatever).

and then we found this cool bench walking on lamar. oh, austin art.
