resort review: 10 crosby

18 Jul

Ok, so I’m a little behind the times as far as fashion reviews go, but better late to the party than never, right? Ok, good.

One of the founding fathers of fashion’s impossibly-cool generation of hip young things, Derek Lam, debuted his hotly anticipated diffusion line, 10 Crosby, this season, to much applause and praise from the fashion set.

We already all loved Lam’s edgy, urbane namesake line, but to couple his runway repertoire with even more I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-still-look-way-cooler-than-you looks catapults our beloved designer to a whole new realm of fashion greatness.

Now, on to the clothes. Whether you’re into tweed trousers, long, flowy dresses, put-together (though not stuffy) black suits or yes, even the needs-to-be-finished pajamas-as-daywear trend, there is something for everyone in Lam’s latest lineup. Impeccably tailored outerwear and edgy styling rounded out the collection, leaving me wanting more from the line’s debut. And while Lam’s resort looks undoubtedly mimic the downtown vibe characteristic of the designer’s runway collections, the pieces in 10 Crosby’s first take feel fresh and exciting.

All in all, this resort collection is success for the young yet oh-so-talented Lam. There always seems to be something great cooking in this designer’s studio, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what’s next.
